Quality & Service Awards

Barrett Hospital & HealthCare is nationally recognized for exceptional clinical quality, patient safety and service.  Our providers, nurses and staff perform at a high standard, with complete and coordinated care, which has been validated by the following awards and honors.

Top 20 Critical Access Hospital

Barrett Hospital & HealthCare is a six-time recipient for being a Top 20 Critical Access Hospital of the 20 highest ranked Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) in the nation by National Rural Health Association (NRHA). Critical access hospitals make up approximately twenty-five percent of hospitals in the United States; there are over 1300 in the nation, with 49 critical access hospitals in Montana.

TOP 100 Critical Access Hospitals

Barrett Hospital & HealthCare is a thirteen-time recipient for being ranked in the TOP 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation by The Chartis Center for Rural Health’s Top 100 CAHs. This annual recognition program honors outstanding performance among the nation’s rural hospitals based on the results of  the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance.

Montana Rural Healthcare Performance Improvement Network

The Montana Rural Healthcare Performance Improvement Network (PIN) is a voluntary membership of 49 critical access hospitals throughout the state. Through this Network, member hospitals are able to benchmark their performance with their peers on a variety of financial, utilization and direct patient care measures that encourage safe, effective, patient-centered care delivery in even the most remote communities of the state. PIN quality of care measures are based on national benchmarks, but are tailored to reflect the realities of the state’s rural population.

American College of Radiology Gold Seal of Accreditation

Barrett Hospital & HealthCare’s Mammography Department receives a gold seal of accreditation in mammography by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety.  It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice  Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.  Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed.

Deficiency-Free CMS Health Certification Survey

When a healthcare facility receives a, it means that, during a facility’s most recent CMS inspection, surveyors found that the facility is operating according to all standards required for that facility. In 2023, surveyors found no significant gaps between federal standards for participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs and the care and service provided by Barrett Hospital & HealthCare. Survey inspections are conducted by the State’s Department of Health & Human Services in accordance with Conditions of Participation administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
